The City of Woodstock joins forces with the American Legion, Marine Corps League, and other local veterans groups to honor those who fight to keep us free. Join us on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27 at 10 a.m. in The Park at City Center (101 Arnold Mill Rd.) for a special service of remembrance. The East Cobb New Horizons Band will perform. Visit the Woodstock Memorial, 10 tons of polished granite dedicated to our Woodstock Veterans who gave us the ultimate sacrifice. GEORGIA NATIONAL CEMETERY MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY

Maj. Gen. James Butterworth, of the Georgia National Guard, is slated to be the keynote speaker at the Georgia National Cemetery’s Memorial Day Ceremony. Butterworth reports to Gov. Nathan Deal and is responsible for 15,000 personnel in the Georgia Army National Guard, the Georgia Air National Guard, the Georgia State Defense Force, and about 500 state employees. The ceremony will be held Saturday, May 25 at 10 a.m. at Georgia National Cemetery, 9310 Knox Bridge Hwy (Hwy 20), Canton, (866) 236-8159. It’s always a great sight when the U.S. Flags line the streets of Woodstock and Towne Lake, and they will do so again on Memorial Day.
