Woodstock Fourth of July CelebrationSamuel Francis Smith penned the words to “My Country Tis of Thee” almost two centuries  ago, yet the idea of freedom ringing from every mountainside still echoes loud and strong in the American spirit. WOODSTOCK JULY 4th ACTIVITIES

7:30am – Annual Woodstock Freedom Run. For more information, see www.woodstockfreedomrun.com.

10am – Woodstock 4th of July Parade starting at Hwy 92 (old Walmart/Furniture for Less Store) and going north on Main St through Downtown Woodstock to Woodstock Elementary School on Rope Mill Rd.

11am – 3pm – JULY 4TH FREEDOMFEST – After the parade, come to The Park at City Center (101 Arnold Mill Rd) for food, live music, children’s games, cake walk, gumball guess, arts & crafts, and vendors of all types. Free concert with Steven Phillips and Midnight Express. Fun for all ages!

Dusk – Independence Day fireworks behind the Target shopping center at Hwy 92 and I-575.

Statement from City of Woodstock about possible inclement weather for July 4th: “If we have a light rain, the July 4th parade and festival will go on. If we are getting a downpour or have inclement or dangerous weather, we may have to cancel the parade and festival and make a call on the fireworks later that evening in the hopes it will clear up for the show. We have no makeup date for the parade and festival, but would reschedule the fireworks for July 5th if necessary.” Please watch the city website  for updates.

CANTON JULY 4th ACTIVITIES

6pm – Canton 4th of July Parade sponsored by the American Legion. Begins at Auto Zone and goes down Main St, turning onto North St and ending at Auto Zone.

Dusk Independence Day fireworks at Riverstone Plaza sponsored by Canton Tourism. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and join the fun! Music provided by Rays Music Machine.  Due to predictions of inclement weather The City of Canton and Canton Tourism have postponed the July 4th Fireworks Display that were to held at dusk at Riverstone Plaza. The City of Canton and Canton Tourism will announce when a date for the Fireworks display to be rescheduled within the next week. For more information, see fb.com/cityofcanton.

WOODSTOCK JULY 5th ACTIVITIES

6pm – 9pm – Friday Night Live “AmericaFest” – Celebrate the spirit of America in Downtown Woodstock on July 5th. AmericaFest will feature a bicycle parade on Main Street. Participating downtown merchants will have activities going on at their stores and throughout the downtown area related to the theme of the month.
