In preparation for the Fourth of July, consider participating in the “Avenue of Flags,” a fundraiser sponsored by the Towne Lake Optimist Club. For an annual fee of just $35, participants will have Optimist Club members install a 3′ x 5′ flag in their yard or at their place of business on each of six national holidays throughout the year – Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, and President’s Day. After each holiday, the Optimists will remove and store the flag until the next holiday.
Program chairman Marvin Glanzer said that as the initial flags went up over Memorial Day and Flag Day, enthusiasm for the flag display spread from neighbor to neighbor as residents recognized a convenient, easy, and dignified way to display their patriotism.
It’s not too late to get signed up in order to display a flag for Independence Day this year! Contact Optimist Club president, Matt Halloran at 404-307-8001, email matthalloran@windstream.net, or visit www.townelakeoptimists.com for more information.

Optimists promote patriotism in their communities and support the development of our youth to become good citizens. Proceeds from the Avenue of Flags program will be used to assist a variety of local organizations which serve Cherokee County.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
